I have been waiting YEARS to see Sarah McLachlan – no exaggeration – and the concert she played here in Corner Brook last weekend as a part of her Shine On tour was unreal. and somehow, by some stroke of luck in combination with my amazing aunt who stood in line for hours to get tickets – I ended up front row.

now, my friend and I were front row right. so I had an amazing side profile of her when she was at the mic, but when she sat to her piano… we were left with her very expressive forehead, and that’s it. however… the front row (dead-center) seats were empty and right in front of my family who was second row center (and texting me in a flurry to get up and come over).

I kept texting “I’m not moving, I’m not moving” because hello, we were a) on display in front of a pretty full stadium, and b) I already watched security seat one woman who was up and on the move with her camera. no thanks. and then before I could really process it I’m already standing up and on my way and just remember thinking well, guess I’ve committed now.

I almost crapped my pants. as soon as my butt touched the dead-center seat and I lifted my camera, she broke out into Adia and I could have fallen apart.

it was pretty surreal. she is such an artist, and her voice flawless.

and no, I’m not a total hole. as soon as she was finished her first set, back to my friend and original seat I went (just when the the actual seat owners showed up).

so worth it. best night!

much love,

candace

meghan & mitchell – your engagement shoot was such a laugh. you two are awesome.

i’ve actually photographed meghan before, so I at least half knew what I was in for with this shoot. she was a bridesmaid in a wedding dru and I shot last year – and she has affectionately been nicknamed “air jordan” to us after an extremely impressive bouquet-catching display. this girl has hops and an unforgiving reach. and apparently catching it actually worked out for her? ; )

so good.

I’m thankful for working from home – and thankful for working outside in areas far beyond of my comfort zone that’s slowly turning me into the kind of photographer I want to be. I’m thankful to work and live alongside Dru who has to be the best partner & person I could have ever asked for. I’m thankful for our little monkey-cat who cuddles so often, and tells us off for leaving him for more than five minutes.

I’m thankful for four (six) caring parents, two (three) wonderful sisters, and friends I don’t get to see as near as often as I’d like but are always no further than the distance of me to my phone. I’m also especially thankful for this house that’s becoming our perfect little home.

and the turkey. always the turkey. or if you’re dru – the gravy.

much love.

what a month this has been. aside from the regular wedding madness, we’ve let go of our wonderful basement apartment in pursuit of a house. we’ve welcomed a new fur-friend named Finn into our home, and i can feel with the season changing everything else shifting too. work – home – everything. i know we’re at a point that in a few years we’ll be able to look back and laugh over, but right now it’s a let’s only focus on today and today only before stress city falls on us again. and that’s okay. it’s making us into more patient people.

so, when Finn woke me up at a startlingly early 4:30 am the other morning we realized getting back to sleep was futile. he was ready and rearing to play and sleep wasn’t allowed. so after multiple kisses, dru and i packed our bags, grabbed mcdonalds breakfast – did i mention we’re stove-less? oh, and we JUST got internet, after being without since august 15th… yeah – and drove down the bay to the blomidons. don’t worry, we returned the favor and woke him from his sleep when we got back. take that finn.

(we still love you, don’t hate us.)

but what a sunrise. and what a welcome break! thanks for the feet in my face finn. i actually appreciated it.
